Linlithgow swoop pays off with win

LINLITHGOW Rose boss Dave Baikie has bolstered his squad with the triple signing of John Adam, Ian Nimmo and Ronnie McPherson.

Adam, whose previous clubs include Rangers and Morton, has been signed until the end of the season, while fellow midfielder Nimmo has moved to Prestonfield on loan from Brechin City.

Goalkeeper McPherson has returned to Linlithgow, one of his former clubs, after losing the No.1 jersey to Kieron Renton at Musselburgh, where he helped David McGlynn's men win promotion to the Super League last season.

Adam and Nimmo were put straight into the side by Baikie for last Saturday's Emirates Scottish Junior Cup third-round replay at Kelty and delighted their new manager by helping Linlithgow secure a 2-1 win.

"Both of them did well even though they are a bit short of match practice," said the Linlithgow boss.

"I knew about Ian when he played for Brechin last season. He had a few niggling injuries and missed part of their pre-season in the summer and Jim Duffy has kindly allowed him to come to us on loan.

"John was in Australia for a spell but I also knew about him before that as he was at Montrose at one time."

McPherson has been signed as cover for Stephen Pinkowski after Craig Coyle, the former Morton man who moved to Linlithgow after three seasons at Bonnyrigg, decided to hang up his gloves.
