Rugby: Cup tie venues on stand-by

MEGGETLAND is on stand-by tomorrow as Boroughmuir and Kirkcaldy bid to finally settle their much-postponed Scottish Hydro National Cup preliminary round tie.

The encounter has already been postponed four times and if weather conditions intervene again in Fife then the match will be either switched to the Capital or a neutral venue, weather permitting.

Having beaten Melrose at the weekend to ease the spectre of relegation, it is expected 'Muir will again be looking to rely on new signing Jamie Doubleday tomorrow.

The Edinburgh University student notched his first tries for the club against Melrose then revealed how he had only moved to back-row this season.

"Until joining Boroughmuir this season, I'd played all my rugby at centre or fly-half. It's great to be more involved in the game at back-row," says Doubleday who would doubtless like to add a cup medal to student representative honours.
