Hide AdDirector of rugby Rankin said: “We played some good rugby in patches and I thought we did enough to win the game, but the penalty count mounted against us [18-4] and Maynard was immaculate for Quins.”
Carmarthen opened the scoring when full-back James Dixon hit the line at pace to scorch clear. Opposite number Brandyn Laursen responded for Dundee, converted by Jack Steele who scored 12 points. Steele and Jack Maynard traded kicks to level the scores 17-17 as defences dominated a tense second half at Carmarthen Park. The deadlock was finally broken by another Dundee infringement late on that handed Maynard the chance to snatch victory.
