Russell Knox hits big time with Hilton Head win

RUSSELL Knox claimed the biggest win of his pro career in the eGolf Tour's Palmetto Hall championship at Hilton Head Island in South Carolina.

The Inverness exile, a three-time winner on the NGA Hooters Tour in the US, closed with a two-under 70 for an eight-under 280 and scooped the 23,000 top prize by three strokes from Matt Cannon and Dave Sanchez.

Sharing the lead heading into the final round, Florida-based Knox reeled off birdies at 11, 13, 14 and 15 to ease to victory.

Comrie's Wallace Booth closed with a 75 for 294 while former Scottish Youths' champion Joel Hendry had a 77 for a 305.
