Stokes vows to become a team player at Hibs

ANTHONY STOKES today insisted that there's much more to his game than goals - and the Hibs striker vowed to become a real team player this season.

The Irishman netted 23 times for the Easter Road side last term, but revealed that he was unhappy with his contribution in other areas of the park.

While he is desperate to continue to bang the goals in during the 2010/11 campaign, Stokes vowed to focus more on helping his team-mates out this year and said: "Last year I scored goals but didn't bring a lot else to the team. I want to score as many goals as I can but I need to add other things to my game as well. "Against Motherwell, I tried to help the team a bit more and be a bit more physical.

"Winning at Fir park was a positive start, everyone wanted a good result.

"We are at our best when we are breaking forward. We have a lot of attacking options and players to get forward to support the strikers. Derek Riordan and I have also managed to strike up a good understanding."

Meanwhile Romano Denneboom's agent was last night waiting to hear whether the Dutch striker will be offered a contract at Hibs after a short trial with the club last week.

Denneboom would be available on a free transfer following the expiry of his contract with Twente Enschede, but has returned to Holland to await a decision from Easter Road manager John Hughes.

The player's representative, Karel Jansen said: "We don't have any news on what will happen with Romano and Hibs at the moment. We are waiting for discussions with the manager or the chairman. But we do not have any indications what will happen.

"We will need to wait and see what the outcome is."
