Swindon agree deal for Ferry and Caddis

SWINDON Town last night agreed a fee of £350,000 with Celtic for midfielder Simon Ferry and full-back Paul Caddis.

Caddis, 22, made 24 appearances for the first team at Parkhead, making his home debut when he marked Ronaldinho when Barcelona came to Glasgow in the last 16 of the Champions League in February, 2008. He also had a spell on loan with Dundee United last year.

Ferry, also 22, has been at Parkhead since 2005 but injuries saw him sidelined for nearly three years.

He failed to make the first team but spent last season on loan at Swindon, making 46 appearances for them, including the League One play-off final defeat to Millwall at Wembley.

They'll join former Celts Scott Cuthbert and Jon-Paul McGovern at the County Ground.

Swindon had earlier seen a second bid for the pair rejected.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Coventry manager Adrian Boothroyd has said he is happy to talk to Marlon King when he is released from prison next week but insists there are no plans in place to offer the disgraced striker a contract.

King was jailed for 18 months last October for sexual assault and causing actual bodily harm to a woman in December 2008 but is due out in time for the new football season. His agent Tony Finnigan has claimed interest in his services is high, with Boothroyd, who managed King during the pair's time together at Watford, thought to be one of those mulling over a move.
