Voy notches hat-trick as Lodge stand firm

PAUL VOY scored three tries as Preston Lodge put in a stunning first half performance to set themselves up for victory over GHK on Saturday.

The result saw PL leapfrog Saturday's opponents into second place in National Three behind Marr.

In the first 40 minutes at the Pennypit the East Lothian side's pack were unstoppable, No. 8 Voy the main beneficiary with a hat-trick which along with ten points from the boot of Greg Leitch gave them a comfortable 25-0 cushion at the break.

After the interval GHK fought back to their credit, but PL held on to win 25-19.

North Berwick also notched up a fine home win, 40-27 over Orkney and now sit in fifth place, just two points behind the islanders and five points adrift of Preston Lodge.

Ross High's tough run continued with a 46-16 reverse at home to Gordonians, while Forrester too lost at home to leaders Marr 51-24.

Lasswade still have a slim advantage over Greenock Wanderers at the top of National One after both sides won. The Midlothian men are one point clear at the summit after a 23-3 away win at East Kilbride.

Murrayfield Wanderers defeated Linlithgow 19-18 at home to leave the West Lothian side in the bottom two while Livingston went down 37-19 at Garnock..
