Blue Eyes and Ginger Hair, the excellent, upbeat new single from Kinlochleven five-piece The Shine, speaks of great things to come, write Derick Mackinnon and Olaf Furniss

Formed in the picturesque Highland village of Kinlochleven, The Shine create catchy brit-pop / acoustic folk. The five-piece band is led by core songwriters Paul Martin and Jamie Donaghy, with the rest of the group consisting of Marc Comiskey, Tom Jenkins and Matt Cooper. They’ve enjoyed airplay on Amazing Radio, community station Nevis Radio and performed at local festivals such as WestFest and during big local events like the Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup and the Scottish Six Days Trials.

They’ve also played at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe and Belladrum Tartan Heart Festival, including slots onsite in support of Inverness-based mental health and suicide prevention charity Mikeysline.
